A new weekend means a new wave of streaming releases. From Prime Video’s youthful take on Sherlock Holmes to Netflix’s unsettling true-crime docuseries The TikTok Killer, several new titles have landed online in the past few days.

Here are a few that might be worth adding to your watchlist.

Young Sherlock

Where to watch: Prime Video

Guy Ritchie returns to the world of Sherlock Holmes with Young Sherlock, a new series that imagines the legendary detective during his early years at Oxford.

Hero Fiennes Tiffin plays a young Sherlock still developing the instincts that will later define him. Opposite him, The Wheel of Time actor Dónal Finn takes on James Moriarty, portrayed here as a brilliant and mischievous rival. Zine Tseng (3 Body Problem) also stands out as a fierce presence in the story.

The series leans into a playful, adventure-driven tone while exploring the origins of one of literature’s most famous detectives. Fans of the Enola Holmes films may find plenty to enjoy here.
Starring: Hero Fiennes Tiffin, Dónal Finn, Zine Tseng, Colin Firth, Max Irons, Joseph Fiennes, Natascha McElhone, and Numan Acar.

War Machine

Where to watch: Netflix

Action star Alan Ritchson (Reacher, Fast X) leads this sci-fi military thriller directed by Patrick Hughes, known for The Hitman’s Bodyguard films.

The story follows a group of U.S. Army Rangers who encounter a mysterious and powerful war machine during the final stage of their training. What begins as a routine exercise quickly turns into a dangerous confrontation with unknown technology.

With its blend of military drama and sci-fi action, War Machine looks set to deliver plenty of high-intensity moments and large-scale spectacle.

Starring: Alan Ritchson, Dennis Quaid, Stephan James, Jai Courtney, Esai Morales, Keiynan Lonsdale, and Daniel Webber.

Vladimir

Where to watch: Netflix

Rachel Weisz leads the limited series Vladimir, adapted from Julia May Jonas’ 2022 novel of the same name.

Weisz plays a college professor whose life begins to unravel when her husband faces allegations of inappropriate relationships with students. At the same time, she becomes increasingly fascinated by her charismatic younger colleague, Vladimir (Leo Woodall).

Blending dark humor, erotic thriller elements, and fourth-wall breaks, the series explores themes of desire, power, and scandal.

Starring: Rachel Weisz, Leo Woodall, John Slattery, Ellen Robertson, and Jessica Henwick.

Shadow Force

Where to watch: Prime Video

In this action thriller directed by Joe Carnahan, Kerry Washington and Omar Sy play Kyrah and Isaac, former leaders of an elite multinational special forces group known as Shadow Force.

After breaking the organization’s rules by falling in love and starting a family, the pair go into hiding to protect their young son. But when their former boss places a massive bounty on their heads, they are forced back into the fight.

The film mixes family stakes with high-octane action, with Isaac portrayed as deaf and using hearing aids due to past injuries — a detail that adds another dimension to the character.

Starring: Kerry Washington, Omar Sy, Mark Strong, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, and Method Man.

The TikTok Killer

Where to watch: Netflix

Netflix’s two-part docuseries The TikTok Killer examines a disturbing case that shows how social media can play a role in criminal investigations.

The story begins when 42-year-old Esther Estepa disappears while traveling in Spain in 2023. As her family searches for answers, attention turns to a charismatic TikTok travel influencer named José Jurado Montilla, known online as “Dinamita.”

Through digital clues — including geolocation data, timestamps, and images found on his phone — investigators begin piecing together what happened.

With mysteries, action thrillers, and true-crime stories in the mix, there’s no shortage of new options for viewers looking to update their streaming queue this weekend.
